The Ear Cuff Series is a sculptural form inspired by the arcs in M Valley, a hidden digital world that Alvin first discovered deep in the forest during one of his 3D-scanning sessions. After accidentally falling through a portal, he found himself in M Valley, where arcs can be seen in the landscape. These arcs act as wayfinders, allowing anyone in M Valley to locate the M Gallery from far away. Even the digital creatures, like the Octopus Teacher, pass through these arcs as they navigate the world.

The arc’s existence becomes a symbol for Alvin, a character tasked with preserving fragments of M Valley before its inevitable departure from Luolake City. Before the future farewell, he brought back the ear cuff from the M Gallery as a gift for friends, infused with the memory and emotion of M Valley. These ear cuffs are found in various M Galleries later on, some even guarded by the Octopus Teacher. Later, Alvin and Jane discover that these M Valley artefacts can be brought back into their physical world and traded as a type of coin, and they begin a treasure hunt with their friends.

The ear cuffs are worn around the ear, their sweeping, organically growing shapes resemble a suspended bridge between the digital and physical worlds, echoing both the digital world and physical nature. More than wearable art pieces, each piece holds Alvin and Jane’s memories and emotions, their desires, their dreams, and the uncertainty of their future.

Production / Delivery
All GUM pieces are delivered from East London, where we design all the pieces.

Only the pieces labelled made-to-order are produced on demand. All other items are ready-to-ship.

For ready-to-ship pieces, please allow 1 to 3 days for delivery within the UK via Royal Mail 24 Tracked. 2 to 4 working days for delivery within the UK via Royal Mail 48 Tracked. 7 to 15 days for international orders.

For made-to-order pieces, please allow 4 to 5 weeks for your jewellery to be created and dispatched.

Once your order is on its way, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking details.

Delivery times are calculated at checkout and vary depending on your destination. International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees.

Returns & Exchanges
Due to the limited production of our pieces, we do not accept returns unless the item is faulty. However, we understand sizing can be difficult. Please refer to our size guide or consider purchasing a ring sizer before placing your order.

Faulty or Incorrect Items
We take great care in the making and packing of every order. If you receive a faulty or incorrect item, please get in touch within 14 days of receiving it, including a description and clear photos. We will assess the issue and offer a replacement, or a refund where appropriate.

All GUM pieces are crafted in Sterling Silver, a material chosen for its ability to age gracefully and hold stories over time. Our jewellery is designed to last, to be worn now and passed on, gathering memories across generations.

Sterling silver naturally oxidises with time, which may cause slight discolouration, this is completely normal. You can easily restore its original shine by polishing your piece with a silver-specific polishing cloth.

We recommend removing your jewellery when using cleaning products, applying cosmetics, or showering, as these substances can accelerate oxidisation or leave residue in textured areas.

If your piece features sculptural or detailed textures and starts to appear unclean, soak it in warm water with a mild washing-up liquid for 15 minutes. Then, gently brush the surface with a very soft-bristled brush (such as a soft toothbrush) to lift any residue.
